We are offering for sale a very attractive Winchester Model 1886 lever action rifle chambered in 38-56 W.C.F. This comes with a Cody Firearms report that states the serial number was applied on January 19, 1892.
26” Half octagon, half round barrel shows surface wear and a greying patina that has freckling in spots. The muzzle end is very good; The bore is exceptionally clean with very nice rifling. Half magazine. Receiver shows a few signs of original case coloring in protected areas, mostly on lower and upper tangs. Upper tang retains original Lyman flip sight; front fixed sight. Lever action works magnificently and is extremely smooth with a tight close.
The furniture on this antique is very nice without any cracks or breaks of any sort. Shoulder stock is solid with light handling wear and it fit with a crescent butt plate. Fore-end is very nice as well with a few blemishes on right side.
Once again, this has a Cody Firearms Report printed on February 03, 2014 and will be included with firearm.
