MAX II) rifle that you don’t see very often. It is the official issue infantry rifle designated K-2 in the South Korean military. The caliber is .5.56 mm NATO or 223 Rem. The rifle is new with its original box (never fired) but has a few handling marks (picture above). It’s inspection-ready clean. The box does show some shelf-wear. Above the magazine well on the left lower, it is stamped: “MADE IN KOREA 5.56MM AR-100”. Besides being fun to shoot, they are a good investment as no more will be coming into the country. Importation was discontinued in 1986. Daewoo rifles are very reliable and tough. This rifle’s design combines reliability of the AK gas/piston system with the AR-15/M-16 design. This is a paramilitary assault rifle with an 18” barrel, a flash suppressor, and a sturdy bayonet lug. It is gas piston operated with a rotating bolt. The rifle has a folding stock (best I’ve seen so far) and uses AR-15 magazines. It really is an interesting design that works quite well. In fact, I like this rifle so much that I actually own two.
