With the discovery of gold in 1849, thousands of courageous prospectors poured west in search of wealth, adventure and a new life. Prized as a defense weapon for its ability to be carried and concealed, western pioneers by the thousands relied on the diminutive Colt 1849 Pocket .31 caliber revolver to ward off attackers, defend claims, and to protect gold strikes from poachers. This enabled the Colt 1849 Pocket to become the best selling revolver in the entire history of Colts percussion line. In the celebration of this historic event, Colt has produced a special limited edition Signature Series reissue featuring a gold -plated cylinder engraved with prospectiong scenes. Goldrush medallion inlaid in the grip, and 150th Anniversary Goldrush engraved in gold along the face of the barrel. THIS GUN WILL NEVER BE MADE AGAIN, PRODUCTION CEASED OVER TEN YEARS AGO.
