SS# 3xxx From a mid-west estate sale a WWII Japanese Type 44 Cavalry Carbine 6.5 Jap. cal. At the sale they said this was an original early production gun Nagoya Type. The wood has no cracks or chips but lots of dents and dings from war time use (see photos). The metal finish is also good with some wear (see photos) and all appears to be original. I am not a collector or an expert and know very little about this type of gun (therefore I took photos of every mark or stamp I could find on the outside of the gun but don't know how to take it apart)(all outside numbers match with the exception of the bolt...see photos). At the sale the only other information about the gun was that the entire collection belonged to a friend of the family who brought it back from WWII. After close inspection the gun seems to function perfectly, has a good bore and should be a accurate shooter. This gun is in excellent mechanical condition, but shows signs of normal use. The small silk battle flag is slightly faded but has no damage. The WWII Japanese bank notes are original and not reproductions. The Illustrated Newspaper is original WWII publication , not a reproduction and has 12 pages with many war photos including photos of the Japanese Cavalry with 44 Carbines. The Propaganda poster shows the Japanese Cavalry in action using both the Cavalry Sword and Carbine. The Japanese Cavalry sword is standard military issue and is in excellent condition. The scabbard shows wear but the blade looks brand new (see photos). The four war time photos are original and not reprints.
