This is one of the early albeit last “alphabet” guns as indicated by its serial number Z400. Seasoned collectors already know the serial number story but here it is for the rest of you. Ruger started the first Bearcats with numbers 1-999 then began adding a letter. All letters were used except “o” but it is widely believed that some of the number blocks were skipped and even if they weren’t that’s still less than 25,000 guns. Considering there were from 140,000 to 160,000 of these guns built over a 12 year period, well you get the point. The photos are a good representation of this little “Cat” and additional views are available upon request so don’t hesitate to ask. The bore looks great, very bright and shiny with well defined rifling. This revolver was just returned to us from the factory where it had the transfer bar safety upgrade installed so it is assumed in perfect mechanical condition. Serious collectors need not worry as the buyer will also receive the original parts.
