This is a Plant revolver in .42 caliber cup fire. It loads from the front and spent cartridges are ejected by the bolt action lever on the right side of the gun. 6 shot. Looks like an old rework as barrel has been engraved "PLANTS MFG CO. NEW HAVEN CT." Functions fairly well skipping a bear once in a while. Walnut grips look like replacement. Nice example of a scarce gun used during the Civil War.
