Browning Superposed Diana 20ga. - PRE-SALT, 1966, MINT, CASED
The Browning Superposed Diana Grade is a wonderfully engraved, low production gun with only 1493 20 gauge guns produced between 1964 and 1977. Most Superposed fans know that guns produced between 1967 and 1972 were affected by the infamous salt cured stocks and subsequent corrosion problems that ensued. Less than 800 produced were not affected by the "salt era". The most notable change that occurred to the Superposed "Lightning" occurred in 1966, when the pistol grip design changed from the "long tang, round knob" (LTRK) to the short tang, flat style pistol grip. And again, as most Superposed fans know, the LTRK is far more desirable than guns with the later flat knob style. This Diana Grade, sn41554 V6, is amongst the last few Superposed that had the most desirable LTRK and no salt wood. We have taken the wood off of the metal on this gun and we guarantee it is NOT A SALT GUN. What we have here is an as new, highly collectible, investment grade Diana Grade 20 bore with dynamite wood and engraved by Gino Cargnel. What a gorgeous gun for your clays or upland needs.
The 26 1/2" barrels retain 99% blue, mirrror bores, internal diamter .623 bottom, .625 upper, choked SK/SK, minimum wall thickness 32 and 35 thousandths, no pits, scratches, or dents, 3" chambers, vent rib, strong well timed ejectors, a great set of barrels.
The receiver is factory grey with deep chiseled engraving signed by G. Cargnel, gold trigger showing little wear, crisp single selective trigger, perfect screws, action tight with lever centered, barrels tight on face and hinge pin like a new gun, beautifully engraved long tang trigger guard, mechanically excellent.
The wood is very nicely figured with all of the factory finish, clear sharp factory checkering, no splits, chips, or repairs anywhere, 14 1/4" LOP to factory butt plate, 2 3/8" DAH, 1 1/2" DAC, neutral cast, superb wood to metal fit, again, as new.
The gun weighs 6lbs. 7oz. and handles nimbly in hand. A strikingly handsome gun you can be proud to show off at the gun club or in the field, it is the perfect tool for any of your close-in upland game like grouse, woodcock, pheasants over pointers, quail, or doves coming in to feed or drink. And of course it is the perfect skeet gun. To many it is a strange concept that you can buy a rare, collectible gun like the Browning Superposed Diana Grade, enjoy its beauty and utility for years, and if you choose to sell it actually make money as in any wise investment. Low production, high condition guns no longer in production allow you to do just that. It is simply supply vs. demand, and with so few made the price will continue to rise while you enjoy its use. Can't get much better!
There are more photos upon request. There is a 30 day mechanical warranty on this gun. Please see our other fine Vintage Firearms on this website.
