HG3075 Here is the pistol that began the revolution in semi-auto handguns 25 years ago. There were reasons for that, and the reasons are evident on close inspection of this specimen of the 92FS Pistol. Until 1985 or so, Colt and Browning 9mms would not handle hollowpoints. Smith & Wesson 39 and 59 series pistols would, but the Smiths did not capture the market's imagination, perhaps due to the feel of the 59. Here was a pistol that looked good, felt good, and would handle sharp-nosed Federal and Smith & Wesson Hollowpoint ammo. It was, and is, extremely simply made, very easy to field strip and clean. This particular 92F has served and protected our fellow Americans in California on duty with the distinguished officers of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Serial number is BER060,000 Z suffix range, so it was manufactured in 1990 from similarly numbered new guns we got that year. It was on duty, then, during the 1992 Riots. Magazine is original LASO issue pre-ban 15 round. Grips are LA SO issue, as the photos show. Surface detractions are moderate, with extensive edge whitening, and whitening on the serrations of the grip frame. We rate it as Good, perhaps Very Good, 75 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. We estimate that it has been fired about 2,500 rounds, no rounds at all for a Beretta 92F. Action is traditional single- and double action, with lock-down, decocking ambidextrous safety levers mounted on the slide. Barrel is 4.9 inch Government Size. Sights are dot front and U outline dovetailed rear. Capacity is 15 plus 1, and the pistol comes with its original issue pre-ban Beretta Factory 15 shot magazine. Weight empty is a well-balanced, easy handling 33.4 ounces. Note that this Beretta has a full length steel guide rod, not plastic like the currently produced models. Finish is matte blue on the steel parts and matte anodized finish on the alloy frame. Own the LA County Beretta 92F in the photos for only $ 369.00. Add a new Italian Factory Beretta 15 round Magazine for only $22.00, or a pre-Ban U.S. Made Factory Beretta Mag only $18.00; or a pre-ban Italian Made Beretta Mag for only $20.00. Not transferable to civilians in California, District of Colombia, or Massachusetts; only the 92FS variant is civilian legal in those jurisdictions. For civilian buyers in jurisdictions where the 15 round magazines are restricted, freight paid and no magazine, or we will sub a new 10 round Mec-Gar for $10 extra.
