Piotto King "Royal" 16 Bore, CASED, AS NEW, FACTORY UPGRADED WOOD
Piotti shotguns are considered Italian "BEST" guns and are equal to any double guns made in the world. Some say they even surpass a Purdey, though the same people have been called heretics as well! A full sidelock Holland style action, engraved by Italy's best, stocked to the fences, chopper lump barrels, factory leather case with accessories all combine to make a fine game or clays gun. This Piotti, serial number 9421 built around 1996, is in as new condition and can be had for almost half the cost of a new one from William Larking Moore. In fact this gun was originally sold by William Larkin Moore when they were still at their California address. Certainly a good investment in a fine double, as the cost for new guns continue to rise and high condition used gun prices will follow right along.
The 28" barrels retain 99+% factory blue, mirror bores, 2 3/4" chambers, no marks or dents, choked SK/LM (.006/.012), bore diameter .671 both barrels, minimum barrel wall thickness 31 thou right, 29 thou left, tight ribs, barrels tight on breech face and hinge, concave file cut rib, a perfect set of barrels.
The full sidelock action with cocking indicators is coin finished and engraved in the Holland style scroll referred to as the "Royal" engraving by S. Panteghini and is simply splendid in its execution. Every screw is perfect and unturned. Action is tight, ejectors strong and timed, trigger pulls are crisp at 3.5lbs. front, 5lbs. rear, all in perfect order.
The factory upgraded wood is highly figured Turkish walnut with an oil finish, checkering is excellent, no cracks, chips, or repairs, English style grip, 14 1/8" LOP to a checkered butt (can be lengthened gracefully by the addition of a fine leather covered pad to 15" LOP or anything in between), 2 1/4" DAH, 1 1/2" DAC, 1/8" cast off (can be bent to your specs within 10 days of purchase for about $180), superb wood to metal fit, diamond shaped grip, again a gorgeous set of wood.
The gun comes in an as new factory leather case with accessories. It weighs 6 1/4lbs. and balances perfectly 1/8" ahead of the hinge pin. When you consider that ordering a new Piotti with all of the extras this gun has would cost you $40,000 with a year for delivery, this sure seems like the best way to buy and Italian "BEST". Piotti is one of the finest shooting guns on the planet and certainly the best gun for the money, bar none.
Treat yourself to a new shotgun that you can use and admire, then sell it for more than your purchase price when the time comes. THAT IS THE WAY TO INVEST RATHER THAN SPEND ON A NEW GUN.
