A fairly rare COLT PYTHON TARGET in .38 Special has just come in to the shop. This beauty is the 8" model in perfect blued finish, with the ORIGINAL COLT "TARGET" Grips. This gun was aimed at the Bullseye Target market as a .38 Special-only revolver. The extra-long barrel and legendary smooth Colt trigger was sure to be a winner. But they became a very limited-run rarity - and a super collectible.
I remember when these beauties were first introduced in the early 80's: Every target shooter wanted one, but the price (close to $400 then) was more than most budgets could afford and this .38 Special work of art did not sell well. I saw them go begging at under $300 at gun shows, and don't I wish I bought 'em all.....
This very rare gun is in "almost-new" condition with apparently zero use from the owner's collection.
Cosmetics easily 99%++. Mechanically the gun is fine: tight cylinder; smooth trigger and hammer fall. If you do decide to shoot it, there is almost NO recoil with mild 148 gr. wadcutters. My Target Python (not for sale) wil shoot cloverleafs with no effort at all....
