By our poor memory, the Rossi Model 68 Revolver came on the scene after the 1968 Gun Control Act, which stopped Rossi Snubs from coming into the United States until Mr. Sam Cummings’s Interarms Company set up for manufacture in the early 1980s. If we are not badly mistaken, all model 68 Rossis have square butt grip frame. Any shoppers unfamiliar with the butt terminology, please see the comparative photo we have attached. These grips, like the 1960s production Rossis themselves, are for a grip frame that is smaller than a Chief’s Special Round Butt. Since Rossi and Importers Firearms International and Garcia were still trying to import the Rossis, these grips were their ticket since they brought the little Rossis up to Import Specs for the 1968 regulations. Manufacturer was Amadeo Rossi of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Construction is vein molded hard brown polymer. Type is weighted target stocks with full skirt checkered thumb rest for right handed shooters only. These will only fit Rossi small frame revolvers with round butt grip frames: models 20, 31, and 33 were among our inventory in the late 1960s, all of them 6 shot .22 LR or 6 shot .32 S&W Caliber, or 5 shot .38 Special. These will NOT fit any Smith & Wesson revolver. They will NOT fit a Rossi model 68, because the 68’s grip frame stud or butt pin is in a different position. This is a rare set of grips; in fact, it is the first set we remember having for the past 30 some odd years, since we got some of the older Rossis among Puerto Rico’s confiscated guns in 1985.
