The Rossi 971 came online in 1989; from this one’s F 066000 range serial number, we believe it is a First Year Production specimen of the VRC variant, manufactured in 1993 and imported by Interarms during the great Mr. Sam Cummings’s tenure. Our own serial number records are good for the .38 Special Rossis, but sparse on the .357 variants. With this relatively small sized Magnum, even though the Brazilian manufacturers borrowed directly from Smith & Wesson, the outlines and configuration of this revolver is more akin to the Colt Detective Special. This Rossi is composed entirely of stainless steel, and weighs just over 32 ounces empty. The weight, in conjunction with the combat factory rubber grips and 8 port compensator barrel, make it a manageable powerhouse. For target shooting, its fully adjustable white outline blade rear sight and red ramp stepped blade front sight ensure both accuracy and minimal recoil with .38 Special Target loads. Surface detractions are minimal, only a faint amount of scouring on the right lower edges of the frame and trigger guard, and on the cylinder surfaces. Since we rate it as 90 percent finishwise, we classify it as Excellent Condition; but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. This 971 VRC is Excellent Mechanically as well. Double Action Trigger Pull is smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels an exceptional 15 to 20 degrees after the cylinder times in all six positions on Double Action. On single action, the hammer travels fully 45 degrees after the cylinder times, and the single action trigger pull is a crisp original 4 3/4 pounds. There is no lateral play to the cylinder whatsoever when the trigger is fully depressed. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel’s forcing cone is minimal, only an etchy streak with negligible depth that traverses about 2/3 of the width of the top strap. Forcing cone to cylinder face gap measures a perfect .007. This 971 has fired very few magnum rounds. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. This revolver is extremely well made, very attractive and shootable, and collectable as well. We’re offering it for only $ 389.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of California, District of Colombia, or Massachusetts.
