**II stamped. .577 Snyder conversion, 1853 Enfield pattern rifle. Side plate stamped 1861 Enfield. Stock cartouche is London Armory. Crown VR also on side plate. Numerous proofs all over receiver, barrel, breech block etc... Very tight lock up of breech block, BREECH AREA IS BROWN BUT NOT RUSTED OR PITTED AT ALL, still a very shootable rifle. Barrel has some minor corrosion on inside top for about 65% of it's length but lands and grooves are very discernable and no major pitting is evident. We brushed it out and swabbed it some and I think it will really clean up very nicely. Stocks are in good shape for a 160 year old rifle with handling marks and only one little chunk out of the comb. There is a hairline crack from the sideplate continuing around the top. Over all a very nice example of a civil war era rifle.
