The scabbard and blade show wear, rust, and blemishes from storage, but has not been attempted to be restored (exception of the sharpened edge). I believe the bayonet to be manufactured by the Tokyo-Kokura Arsenal 1. This bayonet will not mount on a service rifle, due to the smaller muzzle ring (0.550–0.570 in. [14.0–14.5 mm.] was typical for a standard Army-issue bayonet). History: It was employed by the Japanese armed forces as a training prop. The edge was not sharpened. This would reduce the chances of a recruit getting cut during practice. This scabbard has a simple welded frog loop and integral throat. Many of these bayonets were melted in the later years of the war due to the metal shortage in Japan. That is one of the reasons why these items are hard to find.
