Description: HG103810 Here is a late revival of a very popular revolver, not only for both defense minded civilians and law enforcement professionals, but also for those of us who are interested in collectability. This is the 642-1, named model .38 Centennial Airweight Stainless. The first models ran from 1990 until 1993 with old style short frame that lacked +P rating, numbered model 642 no suffix. With the introduction of J-Magnum frames in 1996, the 642-1 began a six year run of immense popularity, replaced by the 642-2 Lock Variant in 2002. Smith & Wesson has produced only one more special run of these fine revolvers with the newer, slicker factory boot type short combat rubber grips presently on almost all lightweight J frames. As far as basic features, The Model 642 is full-time double action; since the hammer is completely enclosed inside the frame. For personal protection, many veteran law enforcement officers and firearms instructors recommend this model 642-1, since the Centennial cannot be fired in single action mode, where a person cocks the hammer and then pulls the trigger. It is an exceedingly dangerous situation when a homeowner hears a noise and immediately backs the hammer on any revolver. This configuration has long been very popular and, in our opinion, vastly less dangerous than many of its semi-automatic peers. In spite of its light weight, it is rated to withstand the pressure from +P, high-velocity proof-load .38 Special ammunition. Furthermore, given the state of the handgun market and consequent prices, we believe the Lightweight J-frame Smith & Wessons are among the best values in firearms. As far as Factory Specs, this revolver is .38 Special +P rated, double action only, 1 7/8 inch barrel, overall length 6 5/16 inches; aluminum alloy small frame J designation; satin stainless finish, Finger Grooved short rubber Boot Grip; serrated ramp front sight with fixed notch rear sight; internal hammer with locking mechanism; .312 width smooth Metal Injected Molded trigger; 5 shot capacity. We're offering these fine revived Centennials in limited quantities, brand new in their boxes with fired brass, each for only $ 389.00.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $12 lower 48; $40 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, USPS Priority Mail, insured with Delivery Confirmation. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
