There are primarily two types of construction of binoculars; porro-prism and roof-prism. We Americans have forsaken utmost quality of image for compactness. Porro-prism binoculars have the advantages of a wider, more stable platform for steady viewing, brighter image due to use of prisms only and not mirrors as in a roof-prism design, less sensitivity to misalignment of internal components due to accident or rough handling, and no phase shift when rejoining two split images as made necessary in roof-prism designs.
Swarovski, ever aware of localized market condtions, ceased the import of their porro-prism models into the US many years ago, to the chagrin of serious professionals, bird-watchers, naturalists and hunters. Consequently, availability of this binocular is limited, even with the occasional availability of factory refurbished used units.
I am the sole owner of this particular binocular. It comes with its original box and contents, including fore and aft lens-caps and strap. While the photo provided is not of my binocular, it is representative of the model.
