I RESCUED MOST OF THIS GUN FROM A MAINE GUN BUTCHER BEFORE HE PARTED IT OUT. UNFORTUNATELY, HE HAD ALREADY SOLD OFF THE BARRELS BEFORE I GOT THERE. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT OLD ED THE GUNSMITH HAD A SET OF TROJAN BARRELS THAT HE WAS ABLE TO FIT TO THE RECEIVER AND FOREND. SO, WE NOW HAVE 30" TROJAN BARRELS, CHOKED IC AND MOD. CHAMBERS ARE 2 3/4", WITH FINE BORES. #2 FRAME. 14 1/4" LENGTH OF PULL WITH A 2 1/4" ONLY DROP AT HEEL. WEIGHS EIGHT POUNDS. SERIAL NUMBER 165XXX. TROJAN BARRELS LOCK UP TIGHT TO ACTION AND ARE NUMBERED TO A LATER GUN. NOTE HOW NEATLY OLD ED MODIFIED THE TROJAN DOLLS HEAD TO FIT THE VH RECEIVER SLOT...WOOD IS SOLID, BUT STOCK HAS BEEN REPAIRED AND POORLY REFINISHED. METAL FINISHES SHOW WEAR, BUT ACTUALLY LOOK PRETTY GOOD WHEN COMPARED TO THE WOOD. THIS IS A GOOD SHOOTING GUN, THAT WOULD BENEFIT FROM A PROFESSIONAL RESTOCKING JOB, WHICH CAN BE PROVIDED AT REASONABLE COST. OR LEAVE IT AS IT AND MAKE IT YOUR ROUGH COUNTRY HUNTIN GUN! SHIP TO FFL OR C&R. LEGAL REQUIREMENTS: All cartridge firing firearms must be transferred through a licensed FFL dealer in your state. Buyer to supply a signed copy of local dealer’s license before shipment will be made. A C&R License is acceptable for C&R firearms, (guns determined to be C&R’s by ATF and/or guns known to be at least 50 years old). Antique firearms and replicas require buyer to supply proof of age.
