This holster came from a sizeable Empire State Department with several left-handed officers. Its mates were issued in the 1970s or 1980s, shortly before the Department went to Autos, but we do not believe this one was ever issued. It is in near-mint condition with no surface detractions. This holster, and its mates we have listed elsewhere, are not only eminently serviceable, they will substitute admirably for a blue Smith & Wesson box to enhance the value of vintage Service Revolvers from the 1950s up to the 1980s. It will fit not only most 4 inch barrel Smith & Wessons, but a whole host of other Revolvers of similar proportions, including Tauruses, Rossis, Colts, and Rugers in 4 inch Barrel Double Action. These are the genuine Mixson Leather holsters, factory number 9A408, manufactured during the 1970s and 1980s. These are unlined Left Hand quick release duty holsters that will fit any belt up to 2 ¼ inches in width. This one’s unlined interior will require lubrication if a person wishes to carry a blue revolver in it. This Mixson Holster is 100% genuine American leather – real American Cow, not Chinese nylon. Replacement price nowadays on this type holster is upwards of $50.00 apiece; own one of these fine holsters, however, for only $ 26.95.
