SAVAGE MOD. 99 TAKEDOWN. Cal. 300 Savage, #376XXX made in 1937. While not a rare variation, this has to be one of the nicest 99's I've seen in a long time. Overall condition is an easy 98% with no blue wear in the usual places found on older Savages. It shows beautiful case hardening colors on the lever, and has a perfect bore. It has had a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad very nicely fitted. It appears mechanically perfect with a very tight take down mechanism and appears to have seen very little use. The barrel has been cut and target crowned to 21" long. A Paul Jaeger (Jenkintown, PA) quick detatchable side mount (never saw one of these before) has been installed, and it carries a period correct steel tubed, El Paso Weaver K-1.5 scope which is also in great condition with perfect optics and a plain crosshair. This is a beautiful, classic, and collectible old rifle that's ready to hunt for another 75 years, and will make a great shootable addition to any collection.
