This Remington 700 BDL Carbine comes to us from a collection in Oklahoma where it spent its career with a farmer persecuting prairie dogs. Date Code is P L, manufactured in June of 1964. It was, then, manufactured in only the third year of production for the 700 series. The 20 inch barrel was standard for the first two or three years of production, so this rifle is all original. Handling and age wear are extensive but moderate; it still retains its attractiveness and appeal despite yellowing to the white spacers, a moderate amount of finish weakness near the muzzle, and toning to the bolt body. This 700 BDL is original, from the muzzle of its carbine length barrel to the end of its serrated factory aluminum buttplate. We rate it as Very Good, 70 percent vicinity; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent; and from our knowledge of its domiciled family, it has been fired no more than 500 or 600 rounds of factory ammunition. It comes with its original, period correct, Duplex Crosshair K-4 Weaver. While most of us nowadays would scope a 300 yard range rifle like this with at least a 4 x 12, the original owner was a conservative soul bent on quick target acquisition in the rolling Oklahoma terrain.
