Again listening to the demands of the customer, DPMS unveiled the LR-308 AP4 in 2005. Featuring a standard A3 height receiver rail, with forward assist and dust cover, standard A2 front fixed sight, detachable rear sight, and a collapsible stock, the AP4 caught the attention of recreational and competition shooters, as well as the law enforcement and military community.
It’s popularity as one of the most compact, light, and yet effective 308 carbines on the market earned it the title of NRA rifle of the year in 2006.
.308 rifle with 16" M4 style barrel. 4140 Chrome-moly steel AP4 Contour barrel, 6 grooves, right-hand 1x10 twist, button rifled, 308 Panther Flash Hider. Upper receiver is A3 style flattop, thick walled, extruded from 6066-T6 aluminum, hard coat anodized per Mil Spec and Teflon coated black. Shell deflector and forward assist machined as one unit. Right hand ejection. Standard Sight Base. AP4 - 6 position, telescoping fiber reinforced polymer stock.
