Here is Beretta’s recent variant of its 92FS Series, the Brigadier. Manufacturer is Beretta USA of Accokeek, Maryland; soon to be produced in Gallatin, TN. Construction is stainless steel and slide, and steel working parts fitted into a 7075 lightweight alloy frame. Finish is non glare weather resistant Inox, with matte black furniture. Barrel is 5 inch Government size, six groove rifling with 1:9.84 twist rate. Slide is a reinforced version of the traditional 92FS series, with a distinctive rising shoulder at the locking lug area. Serrated rear lateral slide measures 1.16 width at the port, .05 thicker than a standard 92FS. Muzzle area of the slide is visibly thicker as well. Sights are dovetailed black front and rear, with 3 dot white inlays, another departure from the slide integral 92FS front sight. Chambering, of course, is 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, 9mm NATO, call it what you will, THE 9mm. This Brigadier comes with a total of two factory 15 shot magazines, fully loaded capacity 15+1. Safety system consists of an internal firing pin safety to guard against accidental discharge if the pistol is dropped, together with a slide mounted ambidextrous main safety that functions as a decocker. Trigger is .340 smooth faced combat, 10 pound vicinity with 1 1/8 inch travel on double action, and two stage 4 pound vicinity on single action with negligible felt creep. Grip frame is serrated fore and aft, 1.03 thick and tapering to .73 at the front of the frame. Grips are factory issue Hogue Combat, bearing the Beretta Logo, and secured with Torx® stainless screws. Trigger guard is type two serrated face. Extreme overall length is 8 5/8 inches from the muzzle to the grip frame strut, with 5 1/2 inches height from the top of the rear sight to the magazine floorplate. Weight empty is 33.8 ounces, with center of gravity at the magazine release, same as the 92FS, and about 40 ounces loaded. Photo specimen came to us from Beretta’s distribution system. Only its box shows any shelfwear, we replaced its inner box because of a broken hinge. It comes with its original outer box, instruction manual with warranty statement, extra magazine, hang tags, and factory inspection certificate from February of 2015. We rate it as Near Mint in Box, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. We do not believe it was ever fired, other than test firing at the factory. Replacement pricing on this pistol in our area is over $800.
