The Year 2014 marks the 50th Year of Production of the work horse 10/22 Ruger Rifle; Here is Ruger’s newest variant of its most widely used product, the venerable 10/22. This is the new Take-Down variant that disassembles, much like its ancestor Browning Grade I Take Down. Manufacturer is Sturm Ruger & Co., Newport, NH plant and so marked on the barrel. Receiver is marked 50th Anniversary, as the photos show. Metal construction is stainless steel, with Savage style stainless collar fitted into the clear coat alloy receiver. Bolt is carbon steel, with matte blue operating handle, polymer buffer, and serrated face polymer trigger. Barrel is stainless 18 1/2 inch standard with 1:16 Right Hand twist. Sights are brass bead dovetailed anodized front sight with elevation adjustable diamond shape fold down rear sight that is drift adjustable only for windage. Forend and buttstock are high impact black polymer with checkered grip and forend sides. Note that the magazine release is extended, so it will easily accept traditional 10 shot BX-1 magazines, as well as the factory Ruger 25 rounder and a whole host of aftermarket mags. Magazine included is a total of One (1) BX-1 10 round. We have 25 rounders available, but they are not freebies. Length of pull on the buttstock is 13 1/2 inches from the trigger face to the checkered surface concave buttplate face. Each 10/22 comes with its factory scope or optics mounting base, one that will accept any Weaver or Picatinny type mount as well as the common 3/8 inch grooved scope rings. It also comes with Ruger’s massive padlock, and an attractive and functional carrying case that will hold all manner of accessories, such as up to six each 25 round magazines in a single compartment, as the included factory flyer points out. Replacement pricing on this rifle is well over $400 in our area, and we don’t see them. We’re offering the 10/22 Take Down rifle in the photos, however, or one of its identical mates for only $ 319.00.
