Here is Mossberg’s 500 riot shotgun in its tactical format, 3 inch chamber, 18 1/2 inch Cylinder Bore beadsight barrel, traditional serrated corn-cob style synthetic forend with retaining strap for better control under combat conditions. Bringing up ther rear is a 5 position M-4 type ATI Collapsible buttstock that includes integral 5-shell holder. Construction is steel barrel, magazine tube, and internal parts with lightweight alloy receiver and polymer trigger group housing. All metal parts are finished with Mossberg’s weather- and salt-water resistant Marinecoat satin nickel finish. The time-honored 500 action has top tang, southpaw-friendly safety and double steel action bars. Magazine capacity is 5 + 1 on 2 3/4 inch shells, and 4 + 1 on three inch shells. Weight empty is 6.7 pounds. This specimen is one of Mossberg’s showgirls, what we call a factory demo. It has never been out of Mossberg corporate custody until we got it. Surface detractions are negligible, only faint amounts of operation buffing on the slide arms and magazine tubes. We rate it as Excellent, since no more than 5 percent of its surfaces have been affected by handling. It comes in a factory box with instruction manual and Mossberg cable lock, as well as a factory six month warranty. Replacement pricing on any of the Mariners is well over $500 in our area.
