In less decade, Turkish firearms manufacturers have earned the respect, some of it grudging, of the United States Firearms markets. Their shotguns, for one, have borne names like Smith & Wesson and Weatherby for some time now. Fit and finish are second to nobody, only the lettering has been weak at times. This pistol shows more Italian influence than any other. Photos show a specimen from only the second batch of Turkish made pistols we’ve had, and it is a thoroughly traditional, but very well finished, tribute to the 92F Beretta. Manufacturer is Tisas, shorthand abbreviation for Trabzon, Turkey, Gun Industry Corporation. Importer is American Tactical of Rochester, NY. Model is 92C, so named after the Beretta 92C. Each pistol comes with white dot dovetailed black rear sights, and matching milled integral front sight. Finish is non-glare, weather resistant black coated slide and matching finished anodized frame. Action is traditional double and single action, Beretta type with ambidextrous slide mounted decocking safety and firing pin safety, but no magazine safety. Magazine is factory Tisas unmarked Blue Steel 15 shot, 15+1 Capacity. Not only will this pistol accept Beretta Magazines, we put its slide onto a 92F we had, and the slide worked fine. Trigger is black finished .350 smooth faced and the specimens we’ve received so far gauge in the 5 pound vicinity with minimal felt creep. Barrel is 4 1/4 inch Commander length blue steel, 6 land and 6 groove rifling. Grips are black checkered polymer. Weight empty is 36 ounces. Hammer is serrated .350 Commander style. Construction is Steel slide, barrel, and internal parts all mounted in a serrated alloy grip frame, as the photos show. Specs, then, are more similar to a Beretta 92 Centurion. The only difference we can see is the angle of the trigger guard area and junction with the forward area of the frame. Here is a well made, attractive pistol at a very attractive price. If it markets successfully, it will not hurt Beretta itself, but it will deal a death blow to the Taurus PT-92 series pistols. They don’t accept Beretta magazines. This one does.
