This is a pair of the RAREST M1 Carbines produced during WWII, an Irwin-Pedersen and a Saginaw S’G’. They were both produced at the Irwin-Pedersen plant in Grand Rapids, MI under a team of managers from Saginaw Steering Gear (Div. of General Motors). This was the only manufacturing plant to produce Carbines with two totally different names. If you are unfamiliar with the history of the I-P/S’G’ carbines, please, send me a message with your phone number and I will be happy to fill you in (have some time free).
Neither of these carbines are “as issued” but the I-P is close. In the pictures you will find two charts, one for each carbine. I made these with the info from the book U.S. "M1 Carbines, Wartime Production" from the “For Collectors Only®” series of books from North Cape Publishing. It shows what the different parts are marked and if they are the correct type/period of part for the serial # range.
