From one of NYC’s finest [and we’re sure as hell not talking about the Mayor] comes this very nice, early Canadian production Para Ordnance P12 45. From its RK 1000 range serial it was likely manufactured in 1990, the First Year of Production according to Mr. Fjiestad. 1991 at the latest, we estimate. Manufacturer was Para Ordnance of Scarborough, Ontario. Importer was Para USA of Fort Lauderdale, and so marked. Type is 1911 derivative semi automatic. Construction is entirely steel. Barrel is 3 1/2 inch Detonics type with flared muzzle and mating fixed bushing and doubled recoil spring with slotted spring cap and short standard spring guide. Finish is semi gloss coated slide, with military style frame finish. Slide release, main safety, and grip safety are standard size with a thin grip safety strut. Trigger is .240 serrated face solid service size, and hammer is Commander style .305 width. Overall length is 7 1/8 inches from the muzzle to the grip safety strut; height is a dead 5 inches from the top of the rear sight to the bottom of the magazine floorplate. Slide length is 6 1/4 inches, with a 5 1/8 inch sight radius. Sights are raised combat 3 dot configuration, stake on front and covetailed rear. Grip frame is serrated on the front strap, with serrated mainspring housing. Slide thickness is a standard .965, but with 1.16 thickness at the front of the grip frame. Weight empty is 34 1/2 ounces. This pistol comes to us in its original box with a total of two period correct pre ban Canadian Factory Magazines. Surface detractions are minimal, only faint amounts of edge whitening, a few tiny streaks on the frame, and freckling on the never-blued sides of the hammer. We rate this Para as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. From our knowledge of this pistol’s owner, we estimate it has been fired 500 times. It is attractive; this P12 45 is still ahead of its time and will hold its own with anybody’s compact .45 for reliability, concealability and accuracy. Replacement pricing on its rather strange looking descendant, the Para Warthog, is upwards of $1000 in our area - if a person can even find one. We’re offering the P12 45 in the photos, however, for only $ 639.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of California, the District of Colombia, or Massachusetts. For civilian buyers in jursdictions where 12 shot magazines are restricted to law enforcement, $25 off but no magazines.
