Up for sale is a rare special order Savage model 1899 CD it is in very nice condition for its age and well taken care of. It has a tapered octagon 26" barrel with a very nice bore. It has a very unusual rounded pistol grip, I believe this to be factory called a prince of whales, the numbers match on the stock and crescent butt plate to the gun. I believe the sights to be original "extras" ordered with the gun, the front sight is a Lyman's Ivory bead no.20B "Jack" sight and the rear sight is a Layman's folding no. 6B. I believe this gun was ordered with a high gloss blue finish, which still shows on the receiver and tang approx 50% blue retains on the receiver/tang. Bluing is thinning on the barrel, but overall is very good with only complete bluing loss to the sharp edges of the octagon barrel, bluing for the whole barrel approx 70%. There is a small piece of wood missing towards the bottom of the crescent butt plate and I have included a picture to show it. On the rear of the tang there is 2 small hair line cracks in the stock about 1 1/2" long. I believe along time ago the stocks were refinished at some point but not for sure. This rifle is a nice gun for its age and functions beautifully. This Savage was manufactured in approx 1902. I only except USPS money orders for payment, I do like for them to be sent priority mail with signature required, so I can sign that I received your payment and also track your payment.
