HG4626 We traded for this Colt Commando Special early this year from one of our friends in West Virginia. It has a story that an admiral-level Naval retiree traded it to a stone mason in the 1960s for some contract work, and the factory letter we have supports that anemic snippet of oral history. It was shipped on July 22, 1943, to Mr. Roy May, Director of Plant Protection of the Southeastern Shipbuilding Corporation in Savannah, Georgia. Finish on this revolver shows minimal surface wear, only faint amounts of whitening on its surface edges. We rate it as Excellent, since no more than 10 percent of its surfaces are affected by our estimate. It is certainly excellent mechanically; from the minimal amount of carbon showing on its cylinder face, we do not believe it has been fired more than 50 rounds if that many. Bore, cylinder chambers and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Grips are original factory Colt. Not transferable to civilians in Massachusetts unless they are C&R Licensees.
