The distinctive and authentically shaped first Bisley RBNV and KRBNV series of the Ruger Vaquero only enjoyed production from 1998 until 2004. From this specimen’s 57-26000 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1999, the First Year of Production for the 4 5/8 inch barreled Bisley Vaquero. It comes to us from its exclusive owner in nearby McNairy County, Tennessee, and it is in its original box with its envelope, instruction manual, yellow cylinder spacer, and miniature Ruger factory padlock. Catalog number is KRBNV-44, and numbered model is 00539, labeled on the box. Surface detractions are minimal, principally rotation marking on the cylinder and faint streaking on the barrel under side from disassembly contact with the cylinder rod. We rate it as Excellent in Box, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate; but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is the catalog number KBNV-44 variant, now discontinued in favor of the lighter, plainer standard SAA type Vaqueros. Construction is entirely stainless steel, including the ejector rod housing; with polished finish that gives a nickel coloration as the photos show. Grip panels are original factory Rosewood. Barrel length on both, of course, is 4 5/8 inches. Weight empty is 34.6 ounces. This Bisley Ruger is Excellent mechanically. Blast effect to its frame top strap under side, directly above the barrel’s forcing cone, is negligible, only a faint etchy streak with no depth that traverses the width of the top strap. Owner stated that he has never used Cor-bon ammunition or anything of the sort, and he estimated this revolver has been fired fewer than 400 times. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Cylinder times into place well before the hammer sets on all six positions, exceptionally good timing for a Ruger Single Action. Trigger pull is also exceptional, 2 1/8 pounds with no felt creep. Replacement price on the nearest available variant, the KNVRB455 with internal lock and 5 1/2 inch barrel, is upwards of $700 in our area; and it is not as desirable as this 4 5/8 variant.
