It served and protected the good citizens of the Bay Area on and off duty with a distinguished officer of the San Francisco Police Department for two decades. Its 0 range serial number dates its year of manufacture as 1980. Type is double and single action revolver with transfer bar internal safety device; stainless steel construction; 2 3/4 inch barrel, capacity six rounds of .38 Special and .357 Magnum caliber ammunition ; pinned black serrated ramp front sight with fixed notch frame-integral rear sight; .300 serrated spur hammer with matching smooth faced combat trigger; SFPD issue Pachmayr RSS/C grips; weight empty 34.75 ounces. Surface detractions are moderate, principally holster buffing, cylinder rotation marking, and edge scouring on the trigger guard. We classify it as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically, no surprise since this is one of the toughest guns ever built. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel’s forcing cone is negligible, not really distinguishable from the casting marks on that surface. Bore, cylinder chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels an additional 20 degrees after the cylinder times on all six positions in double action. On single action, the hammer travels fully 35 to 40 degrees on all six, and the single action trigger pull is a tight but crisp and original 4 1/2 pounds with no felt creep. Lateral play to the cylinder is minimal with the trigger relaxed and negligible with the trigger fully depressed. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap measures a tight .005.
