From a local West Tennessee collection comes this pristine and attractive specimen of what we all call the Coke Knife, or Coke Bottle pattern. Numbered pattern 6225 1/2 SS, is stamped on the tang of the secondary pen blade. Overall length closed is 2 7/8 inches, and the main clip pattern blade measures a full 2 1/2 inches from heel to point. Blades are classic W.R. Case streaked stainless finish, and this specimen was one of the last ones so finished before Case began its polished stainless production during the late 1980s. From its stylized Lightning Bolt S character tang stamping and from its 9 dots, this Apaloosa Coke was manufactured in President Reagan’s Inaugural Year, 1981. Handle panel material is non-picked smooth finished, red and white figured genuine bone, hence the nickname Apaloosa. This little Case has never been used or sharpened; its only surface detractions are light contact scouring to its nickel steel bolsters and faint amounts of buffing on its blade tangs, from opening and closing contact with the brass liners. Each handle panel is secured by 3 brass rivets, as the photos show, and logo plate is classic 1970s style nickel steel. We rate this 6225 1/2 Coke as Near Mint, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves.
