Description: Here is a classic Smith & Wesson K-38 Combat Masterpiece from President Nixon's final Year in Office, 1974, from its 6K377xx serial number. It is a Bangor Punta era, pinned barrel specimen, model 15-3. Specifications are the usual; 4 inch serrated rib barrel with black ramp front sight and White Outline adjustable rear sight; Square butt grip frame serrated fore and aft; .500 Color Casehardened serrated Target trigger and matching .500 Target hammer; Period correct Sile Rosewood Target grips without speedloader cut; six shot capacity; 32 5/8 ounces weight empty. Action, of course, is traditional double- and single-action with internal transfer bar safety mechanism. This 15-3 has served our citizens in the Federal Parks Service during its career. The relatively small 6774 number on the left side of the frame beneath the thumb latch is a GSA Federal Number. It has moderate holster and handling wear. There are moderate amounts of whitening on the right side of the barrel, on the cylinder surfaces, and on the edges and here and there; and dark spotting on the sides of the trigger. Pachmayr SK-GP Grips are mid 1980s with minimal wear. We classify it as Very Good since only 20 percent or so of its original finish exhibits surface wear by our estimate. Photos, however, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically. Bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel's forcing cone is minimal, only a faint etchy line with no cutting whatsoever that traverses about 2/3 of the width of the top strap. Double action trigger pull is tight but consistent, and the hammer travels 2 to 5 degrees in double action after the cylinder times in all six positions. On single action, the hammer travels an additional 20 degrees on all six after timing, and the single action trigger pull is a crisp 4 1/2 pounds. Lateral play to the cylinder is negligible with the trigger relaxed, less than 1/2 mm total movement by our estimate; but with the trigger depressed all the way, there is no movement whatsoever. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is a perfect .006. We're offering this attractive, collectable, and eminently serviceable Smith & Wesson Model 15 from 1974 for only $ 369.95. Not transferable to civilians in California, copycat District of Columbia, or Massachusetts. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Handguns: $15 flat fee shipping to the lower 48 states; $20 to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, USPS Priority Mail, insured with Delivery Confirmation. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
