REDUCTION IN PRICE THIS GUN HAS NEVER BEEN FIRED This is just a fantastic example of a new in the box Merkel KR-1 Weimar Presentation Grade luxury bolt action rifle. The Merkel factory is well known for their high grade shotguns and they have extended that manufacturing quality and craftsmanship to this fine line of bolt action rifles. These rifles were first introduced in 2005 and had very limited importation into the US. This rifle is the "Presentation Grade" Weimer Luxury version that features hand cut deep relief engraving in a floral and hunting game scenes pattern on the action cover and entire trigger guard. The trigger guard and action cover have a French gray style finish with the remaining metal surfaces having a matte black finish. The rifle is fitted with an exceptional deluxe grade of English walnut in a Bavarian pattern. High arched comb with a double fold Bavarian cheek piece, rosewood forend tip, rubber rifle pad and deluxe fine line checkering on both the pistol grip and forend with factory installed sling swivels. It is fitted with a short sporter weight barrel with a fixed rear sight and ramp front sight with a bead insert. The rear of the barrel has been factory machined for a Merkel double lever quick detachable scope mount that carries a 10 X 42 Swarovski hunting scope. The rifle uses a fixed barrel with a sliding bolt carrier/top cover that houses a shortened cylindrical bolt with a very short bolt lift. The bolt has two rows of three locking lugs which engage the rear of the barrel similar in concept to a Model 16 rifle. With this shortened bolt, bolt carrier and short bolt lift the cocking and loading motion is super smooth and super fast. The left side of the barrel is marked "Suhler Jadg-und/ Sportwaffen GmbH/ Suhl Germany" and the right side is marked "GSI Inc. T' ville AL" The rifle is complete with the original factory numbered shipping box, factory inspection papers, and Swarovski 10 X 42 Scope.
