Ithaca NID 20ga. "Star Grade" Field- AS NEW, EJECTORS

Most Field Grade guns were made in prolific numbers. There are plenty of Ithaca NID 20 gauge guns offered for less money than this one. However, most Field Grade guns got hard use and are found with little finish remaining, and undesirable alterations like cut stocks, bad pads, cracks and repairs, pitted bores, buggered screws, pits and heavy scratches, etc.. There are restored guns, done in mediocre fashion, on the market for less as well. What you won't find is a fully restored BY TURNBULL RESTORATIONS, EJECTOR EQUIPPED, HAND ENGRAVED GUN IN NEW CONDITON. The “Star Model” was produced for about 5 years and had 6 stars engraved into the receiver and trigger guard in addition to the setters stamped on the sides of the action. Factory guns are known for a weak, faded stamping of a setter in a field on the left and right side of the receiver, usually barely visible. Turnbull, in his quest to be the best, hand engraved this scene vividly into the receiver. THE RESULT IS BETTER THAN FACTORY NEW, CRISP GAME SCENE ENGRAVING ON AN ITHACA FIELD GRADE GUN! The cost of the Turnbull restoration exceeds what I want for the entire gun, and there is no 1 year wait for a restoration project! Weighing in at 6lbs. 3oz., this little NID (made in 1927) will be an awesome upland game/clays gun for its next owner. An affordable vintage American double in the very popular 20ga., WITH EJECORS, it will always be a desirable field gun, gaining value as you enjoy its use. The most sought after of all the Ithacas, the NID model is known to be very strong and reliable in its design.

The 26” barrels retain 100% blue, mirror bores, choked IC+/F and so marked (.010/.028, can be altered to your specs for $70 per barrel), 2 ¾” chambers, bore diameter of .615 both barrels, minimum wall thickness of 31 thousandths, no pits, scratches, or dents, strong well timed ejectors, barrels tight on breech face and hinge pin like a new gun, ribs tight and barrels ring true, ivory front bead, a great set of barrels.

The action retains 100% vivid case color, perfect screws, action tight with lever way right of center, strong well timed ejectors, engraving sharp and clear, crisp double triggers, trigger guard retains 100% charcoal blue, cocking indicators, all in mechanical and visual excellent condition.

The wood is in excellent condition with all of its finish remaining, excellent checkering, LOP of 14 1/8” to the factory butt plate, 2 ¾” drop at heel, 1 5/8” drop at comb, neutral cast (can be bent to your specs within 14 days of purchase), no splits, chips, cracks, or repairs, excellent wood to metal fit, nicely dimensioned set of wood w/figure.

There are few 20ga. ejector American double shotguns that can be had for under $4000, and most have little condition remaining. This diminutive Ithaca is an investment quality shotgun that will serve you well this upcoming bird season and bring you pride of ownership with its "as new" condition. High condition original guns are becoming hard to find and Tunrbull Restorations will be THE guns to have in your safe as the original guns vanish from the marketplace. Tangible assets are highly recommended in this shaky market, and this one is affordable and will be fun to carry afield as well.
