This Smith and Wesson Model 49 Bodyguard was made in 1983. It appears and funtions today as if it was still 1983. The blue finish is 100% and the mechanical function works perfectly. This five chambered, concealed hammer revolver can easily be carried in a pocket as well as a holster. It is chambered for the .38 Special cartridge. Even with only a two inch barrel I've seen many a police officer shoot a perfect score with the last station at 25 yards. This weapon is realy meant for across the room defence but I mention the fact that many of us had shot two inch barreled revolvers with perfect scores at twenty-five yards to show that, with practice this weapon is as accurate as a full sized revolver. The concealed hammer on this weapon allows one to cock the hammer for a single action shot as well as the usual doudle action shot one would fire with this revolver. This is a fine piece of Smith workmanship that is a collectable now that it is 26 years old and looks new but it can also be loaded and used as it was meant to be used.
