Shoppers also please note that some minor fitting may be required on these, because the Colt grip frame studs – what Smith & Wesson unblushingly calls Butt Pins – have some slight positioning variance. All it amounts to is very slight widening of the stud cavities, see the reverse photos. After all, we’re talking about grips that will fit revolvers with 50 years worth of engineering changes. Mr. Steve Herrett and his family and workers have long produced excellent custom grade grips for many handguns; we know them best for their contributions to our Smith & Wessons. Here are some attractive and properly configured grips to fit Colt D Frame Revolvers manufactured after 1946. Chief Williams’s 1961 Long Grip Frame Cobra and Councilman Faulkner’s 1982 Short Grip Frame Diamondback have their grip frames showing in some of our photos, but these are not included. These are Herrett's Extra Fancy Cocobolo exotic wood with inlaid Colt logo. No two are exactly the same; all of them are very attractive. Configuration is thinner-than-original Target with double recess that easily accommodates speedloader use for right handed shooters. Replacement pricing on a new or mint set of Factory Grips from the period of production runs as much as $200 per set.
