Here is a very attractive Smith & Wesson 5906 Stainless 9mm in its best form. From its VCH serial number prefix, and from its black anodized trigger and hammer, we estimate it was manufactured in 1996 or 1997; and it comes one original ban period Law Enforcement marked 15 shot factory magazine. Specs are traditional double action; that is, the ambidextrous safety serves as both a main safety and a decocking lever, and this pistol goes to single action after the first shot, or after the operator manually cocks the hammer with the safety off. The 5906, of course, also has an internal firing pin safety and a magazine safety. Grips are excellent condition one-piece factory. Sights are Novak 3 dot fixed sights, drift adjustable for windage only; but all of the thousands of these we've sold have been point of aim in experienced shooters' hands. Note the distinctive muzzle configuration of the stainless barrel, where it locks into battery consistently every shot and produces match grade accuracy. Weight empty is 38 ounces; this pistol, after all, is entirely stainless except for the anodized sights, .260 hammer, and .304 smooth faced anodized trigger. Surface detractions are only moderate, faint but extensive holster buffing, mostly on the sides of the slide and on the sharp edges of the frame. We rate this 5906 as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity by our estimate; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Replacement price on the last ones of these made in 2005 and 2006 was over $700 apiece.
