A 1902 mfg. Colt Single Action Army with factory letter. According to Colt this fine gun was shipped from the factory on July 22, 1902 to Wyeth Hardware & Mfg. Company in St. Joseph, Missouri. The original finish was blue and the type of grip stocks unknown. An early smokeless powder Single Action Army with crisp markings including the 2-line barrel address, the caliber stamping (38-40 Win) on the left side of the barrel and the 2-line patent stamps on the left side of the frame. Later style hard rubber grips with rampant colt rate very good with the checkering showing only modest wear. Inscribed on the undersides of the left grip is the number 7 and on the right grip the initials “JES”. The bottom of the right grip has what looks to be a branding mark of some sort, perhaps that of a western ranch. The revolver is gray overall with good age, and some remnants of blue particularly in the cylinder flutes and on the bottom of the barrel. The front sight blade has been filed slightly. (97694)
