Rossi has been producing slick, quality copies of the fabled 1892 Winchester since the 1960s at earliest, perhaps longer, and we have always sold them. Here is one of their best looking, and most nostalgic, the 24 inch Octagonal blue barrel. Buttstock and forend are nicely grained dark Brazilian hardwood. Receiver, parts, furniture, and even the buttplate are richly blued steel. The only non-traditional aspect to this rifle is its bolt mounted firing pin safety, and the Rossi company has done a good job keeping that as inconspicuous as possible. Caliber, of course, is .45 Long Colt; and capacity is 12 + 1. Sights are traditional blue steel post type front with step elevator blue steel rear, as the photos show. Weight empty is a well balanced 7.7 pounds. Length of pull from the center of the trigger to the center of the buttplate is 13 1/4 inches. Rate of twist is a very slow 1:32. These fine rifles have always held their own against their Italian competitors, many times at half the price. Replacement type on many of the similarly outfitted Italian rifles like this one is $1,000 apiece or more.
