We offer you a “one of a Kind” Smith & Wesson model 29-6 in 44 Remington Magnum. Some time back around the year 2,000 or earlier. S&W was struggling and looking for different ways to make revenue. They had the Custom Shop people dig through the model 29 parts and take inventory. They found they had parts to make “30” – yes just a run of 30 guns. So, as they called the shop then “SCR” Smith Custom Revolvers. These guns were made on model 29-5 and 29-6 frames. They made them round butt guns with all the old style options. They were 8 3/8” barrels, TH, TT, RR, WO, and the most important, the old style hammer with the firing pin on it. Not the new way with a key and transfer bar. They were offered to KEY S&W dealers. This gun was bought from one of those dealers and put away in a gun safe. It was taken out this year by the original buyer. And after some close going over, found a defect in the barrel. The gun was sent back to S&W to have it looked at. They confirmed the problem and replaced the barrel with a 6 ½”, because they no longer had the longer barrels in stock. So, that is what you are looking at. So it is 1 of 30 guns, and the only one with a 6 ½” barrel that was factory made. And yes, the factory S&W letter to confirm this goes with the gun.
