Here is their most popular vintage style piece, the 1927-A1 Carbine, and here is the factory's brief essay about it: Here is a .45 caliber semi-automatic version of the world's first and most famous military rifle. The Thompson M1 was used victoriously in battles throughout the world, inscribing its place for all times a legend among military firearms. We offer the same attention to craftsmanship today that made the original so highly regarded, The look and feel are authentic, right down to the side bolt action. The frame and receiver are milled from solid steel or aluminum, the wood is genuine American walnut, and the overall finish is a blued steel or black anodized aluminum. While we only give them a B minus or C plus on their essay, we give them an A for the carbine itself. Photos show one of our stock specimens. Action is blowback semi-auto, fires from the closed bolt only; barrel length is 16 1/2 inches; capacity with the furnished stick magazine is 30 plus 1, and drum magazines are spasmodically available; lever safety; American Walnut stock, forend, and pistol grip; bright blue finish. Weight empty is a heavy carrying but virtually recoil-less 13 pounds. This specimen, from its KA 9000 range serial number, is one of the first year’s production from the Millennial Year of 2000, after Kahr took over Auto Ordnance in 1999. It comes to us from one of our favorite Pennsylvania collectors, its exclusive retail owner. Surface detractions are minimal to moderate, only faint amounts of finish streaking and whitening on the receiver and operating handle, a few small scours on the walnut pistol grip, and edge whitening on the anodized alloy buttplate. We rate it as Very Good, close to Excellent, 85 percent vicinity by our estimate; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent.
