These sturdy pistols replaced the Russian Tokarev T-33 pistols in the 1950's. They fire the Makarov 9mm, which is roughly equivalent to the .380 acp which we're familiar with over here, but slightly more powerful. These pistols lack the flashy charisma of newer guns, but their all-steel, rugged, and simple construction make them a reliable and accurate sidearm that can be easily carried concealed for everyday wear. These pistols are single action/double action with a safety decocker. Their all-steel construction reduces felt recoil. As with the AK-47, Bulgarian manufacture suggests superior construction. These pistols have a growing fan base in the U.S., and although they've been imported since the 1990's, their current availability has decreased in the last few years.
