Winchester Model 1873 38 caliber with Cody letter. This is a beautiful rifle that has been restored with added checkering to stock.Serial number was applied for August 8, 1893 and shipped May 28,1894. Forearm wood has a dent about 1-3/4 inch on the right side and all the wood has a tight fit to the steel with no obvious sanding indicated. The silver look of the hammer, butt plate, forearm cap, magazine ring lever and cartridge flap give this rifle a unique look that is GREAT. 720,000 Model 1873 were made from 1873 to 1923 but of those approximately 28,650 were 38 caliber according to George Madis. Who knows how many survived. Including cleaning rods. Make me an offer.
