Original owner enlisted in Civil War 1862 purchased his own weapon(Colt) was in many battles/skirmishes & mustered out at end of end of conflict.He later became a cowboy working many ranches thru New Mexico/Mexico/S. Arizona. He last worked for the Slaughter ranch in S.Arizona(Cochise C'ty)Arizona Territory during the era of the Earp-Clanton fued. This Colt has matching numbers thruought. Orig. & heavily worn grips.This Colt functions properly/snugly/indexes correctly and displays the orig.nipples..! The bore is OK but is dirt fouled in grooves as shown.This has NO military marking & is consistant as a civilian purchased gun. The barrel lettering is approx.50%visible although very thin in spots. NO finish remains nor is expected for an HONEST hard used Colt with a history as this one. The only fault with this Colt is the loading lever catch is missing & loading lever may be from another gun(??)
