Description: According to its BNR serial number prefix, this .357 Military & Police Heavy Barrel Stainless was manufactured in February or March of 1993 as Smith & Wesson went into high speed production due to the shooting public's correct prediction that the Clinton Administration had an anti-gun agenda. It is one of the last fully traditional model 65 Smith & Wessons manufactured, since the square butt grip frames began phasing out in 1995. Note the Satin Stainless hammer and smooth .312 Satin Stainless Combat Trigger. Barrel, of course, is 4 inch Heavy Barrel, and the weight empty is a well balanced 37 to 38 ounces. This is a service revolver, of course, and it has normal surface detractions. Side plate screws have small amounts of scratching from armorer servicing. Light scouring and pecking is mainly concentrated on the lower right side, in the Yoke Screw area, with smaller scuffs and scours here and there, most of them diminished by polishing. Matte area atop the barrel and frame have undergone some buffing, but matte texture is still strong. Hogue Monogrip is new replacement but correct for the period. We rate this revolver as Very Good, since we estimate that 80 to 85 percent of its finish is free of detractions; but photos should suffice for interested parties to judge finish grade for themselves. It is Excellent mechanically. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel's forcing cone is negligible, only a faint etchy line with no depth that traverses about half the width of the top strap. Lateral play to the cylinder is negligible, no more than 1/2 mm total movement, both with the trigger relaxed and with it pulled. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels an exceptional 15 degrees after the cylinder times in all six positions on double action. On single action, the hammer travels a full 30 to 35 degrees on all six after the cylinder times, and the single action trigger pull is a crisp 4 pounds. Bore and cylinder chambers are bright, clean, and excellent. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is .008, which further proves that this revolver has had very few magnum rounds fired in it, given the superb condition of the top strap underside. This is a very well constructed and very attractive model 65. We are including a North Carolina Department of Corrections left hand Federal Man holster. Own this attractive, eminently serviceable S&W 65-4 for only $ 379.95Not transferable to civilians in California, Chicago, Oak Park IL, D.C., Massachusetts, or New York City. Since D.C. circumvented Heller simply by adopting California regulations, we anticipate that possibility for Chicago and New York City now that the McDonald ruling has come down. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Handguns: $15 flat fee shipping to the lower 48 states; $20 to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
