This rifle is a Winchester 1876 Deluxe, chambered in 45-60. It was received in the Winchester shipping warehouse on August 30th 1882, and shipped from the warehouse the next day on order number 34779. It was a custom order deluxe model that was ordered with the extra heavy octagon barrel. It was also custom ordered with a set trigger and a checkered stock and pistol grip. The deluxe model rifle was standard with case hardening, which can still be seen on the receiver of this particular rifle. The gun has not been refinished, and is in amazing shape for a 130 year old piece. There are no cracks in the stock or forend, however there is a small piece of wood that has been knocked off the front of the forend (see pictures for close up). It also still has the complete, and original, back sight. This 1876 also still has the original dust cover on it. I recently took this gun to a local Cabelas to get their opinion on the grade of the gun and price. According to the representative I spoke with he believed the gun was in 40-45% condition and it should be priced between $35,000 and $42,000. I do have a letter on this gun from the Cody Firearms Museum. The serial number on this gun is 246xx. For a link to additional pictures or if you have any questions feel free to send me an e-mail.
