COLT LETTER comes with this ANTIQUE gun. It states that S/N 38236 was made and shipped in 1877 to H&D Folsom Arms in NY,NY on August 20th, and is .45 Cal, Barrel length "not listed", Finish BLUE, Type of stocks "not listed", number of same type guns in shipment 50. It is a Black Powder gun with the 3 line date. The Frame, Trigger Guard and Back Strap are numbered 38236. Cylinder is 8047. Barrel (4 5/8")has one line address (obviously shortened, nicely done). Replacement grips. Finish is a nice old renickel with some nickel missing from backstrap. So instead of a $20,000 price (if barrel and cylinder were numbered the same as frame), it is offered at $3750. The action is nice and tight, having been timed by John Kopec. READ CHAPTER IV of John Kopec's book: "A Study of the Colt Single Action Revolver", which covers this period. Shipment by Insured Priority Mail will cost about $45. This Colt went to New York but made its way West to OLD SHASTA, CA which was the county seat during the GOLD RUSH DAYS. A Mongomery Creek, CA Rancher got this gun from a Game Warden back in the 1960's. Can ship direct to you becuse it is an ANTIQUE.
