The 25.5-inch barrel measures approximately .75 at the muzzle. The original scope mounting block remains on the barrel while the block from the rear bridge (included) has been replaced by a set of Talley bases. The small Mauser action has been carefully polished and then modified with a 2-position wing safety, custom bolt handle with 2-panel checkered knob, Mashburn trigger and custom bottom metal. Screws are tuned, beveled to match the other metal contours and niter blued. The unequaled G&H rust blue finish is nearly pristine. Four-time American Custom Gunmakers Guild "People's Choice" winner Darwin Hensley stocked the rifle in his trademark light classic style with an outstanding blank. Special touches include an ebony inlay at the forend, 26 LPI wrap-around checkering, skeleton grip cap, checkered butt with heel and toe caps, bordered pancake cheekpiece and elegant relief edges around the action. Darwin's stamp appears inside the barrel channel. LOP is 14 inches. The stock remains in 99% condition, with only slight indications of handling wear. Barrel is marked "Barreled by Griffin & Howe Inc. New York 22- (the underside of the barrel is marked simply 22-250). This rifle originated from the estate of Jack Parker, former President of the Boone and Crockett Club as well as Vice Chairman and Executive Officer of the General Electric Company (1). A lifelong hunter and conservationist, this offering is in keeping with his wishes that some of his firearms be used to further the Club's conservation efforts.
