Para Ordnance pistols never needed any mechanical improvements, other than the normal updating and refinements that follow market demands. They have, however, dramatically improved the looks of their pistols since they began showing up here in the South in the late 1980s. This is one of their best, the P-14 Stainless High Capacity 1911 type Fulltime Double Action. Trigger pull is a very smooth 5 pounds with minimal felt creep at the point where the hammer breaks. Every shot is the same; the hammer does not stand, so the shooter need not deal with different trigger pull weights. Finish and construction are entirely stainless steel, the only exceptions being the black anodized sights and C / Round Black Polymer Mainspring Housing on the Grip Frame Back strap. Rear sight is dovetailed; front is stake-on. These are factory night sights with weakened luminosity, easily replaced with all manner of material. Barrel is 5 inch beveled match grade stainless with mating bushing, and conventional recoil spring system. Hammer is satin stainless factory bobbed, with beavertail grip safety beneath it, and standard right hand shooter main safety. Grips are Hogue Combat, with original stainless grip screws.Weight empty is 40 ounces, less than 2 ounces more than a conventional 1911 steel frame pistol. Magazine capacity is 14 + 1, and both original stainless bodied Law Enforcement marked 1996 dated magazines are included. This pistol comes to us from less than a decade in law enforcement. From its DA7200 range serial number, it was manufactured in 2001. Surface detractions are moderate, with holster and contact scouring and buffing that affect 20 percent of the finish by our estimate. We rate this P-14 as Very Good, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. P-14 Stainless Pistols command prices of $1000 apiece or more in our area.
